How often do provinces hold PNP draws, and how do I find out?

TSL Written by the Treadstone Law team· Updated June 2026

Draw frequency varies significantly by province and by stream within a province. Some provinces hold draws monthly or even more frequently; others are irregular, triggered by employer demand, quota availability, or policy updates. There is no single national draw calendar for PNPs the way IRCC publishes Express Entry draw results.

Each province typically announces its draws on its official immigration website. Some provinces maintain a pool of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and send invitations from that pool on a regular schedule; others use a first-come, first-served model or have direct employer-driven nominations without draws at all.

To stay current, the most reliable approach is to monitor the official provincial immigration website directly and sign up for any email notifications they offer. There are also reputable immigration news aggregators and legal blogs that track provincial draw results.

Be cautious of unofficial sources claiming special access to upcoming draw dates or guaranteeing invitations — no third party has advance knowledge of provincial draw decisions, and scams targeting immigration applicants are a known problem. Any immigration professional you work with should be advising you based on publicly available provincial information.

Key takeaways

  • Draw frequency varies by province and stream — there is no single national PNP draw calendar.
  • Monitor each province's official immigration website for draw announcements.
  • Some provinces run Expression of Interest pools; others use direct or employer-driven nominations.
  • Be wary of unofficial sources claiming advance knowledge of upcoming draws.
