How do I register an Expression of Interest with OINP?

TSL Written by the Treadstone Law team· Updated June 2026

For OINP's Express Entry-linked streams, you do not register a separate Expression of Interest with Ontario — instead, your federal Express Entry profile is your EOI. OINP searches the federal Express Entry pool and identifies candidates who match its criteria, then issues Notifications of Interest (NOIs) directly. There is no separate Ontario EOI portal for these streams.

For some OINP base streams (outside Express Entry), the process differs. Ontario periodically opens intake for specific streams, and you apply directly to OINP through its online portal during those intake windows. There is no standing queue — when intake closes, it closes, and you must wait for the next window.

Regardless of which stream you are targeting, the OINP application must be submitted through Ontario's official Enhance Ontario (formerly Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) online portal. Creating an account is free, but you should ensure your documents are prepared before intake opens, as windows can close quickly when demand is high.

Never pay a third party claiming to "register" your interest with OINP ahead of official intake or to claim to have advance notice of when intake will open. These are scams — OINP's official website is the only authoritative source.

Key takeaways

  • For Express Entry-linked OINP streams, your federal Express Entry profile serves as your EOI.
  • For base streams, you apply directly through OINP's portal during official intake windows.
  • Intake windows can close quickly — prepare documents in advance.
  • OINP's official website is the only legitimate source for intake and draw announcements.
